2010 has seen important developments in the gaming sector. Significant shifts in the regulatory environment at national level have been matched by major new EU initiatives: the Digital Agenda and a planned Green Paper on the gambling sector.

But how exactly can new technology help stakeholders support the further development of responsible gaming across the EU? And what additional measures are needed to ensure that internal market principles go hand in hand with consumer protection and fraud prevention in the EU? What should be the priorities for a Green Paper and will it pave the way for a specific internal market framework for gambling in the EU?
